Summer time is quickly approaching. For some it can't get here fast enough, and for others, there is no rest in sight between all the activities you have planned. We have plenty going on this summer for our student ministry and welcome you to come and spend some time with us. Most of the events we have are free of charge and the big event on the list is Summer Youth Camp! Last year we had a great experience that left lasting changes in students and adults that are still evident today. We have some spots left for anyone interested in going with us.
For June we are starting the month with a trip to the Gwinnett Braves game. They have a fun stadium with a unique atmosphere and we plan to have a great time together. On the 3rd, we will be spending the afternoon outside playing volleyball, badminton, basketball, four square, Frisbee, and anything else we feel like doing just to hang out together! We have a meeting to prepare for camp on the 10th, which parents are requested to attend. Then, on the 24th we will have an opportunity for you to share what God has done in your life after camp.
In July we have some fun events at the church, but first we are heading to Stone Mountain to challenge our legs and climb to the top! On the 8th, we will have our second "Largest Ice Cream Sunday" event, however, we plan to top last years by adding another 5 feet of community goodness! On the 15th, we are going to try something new to connect our friends in the area with our student ministry. We are going to play a large scale capture the flag game that covers a huge portion of the Salem grounds. This is a great opportunity to get your friends plugged in to work together with you to be the first Champion in the Battle For Salem! Then, on the 21st, we are hosting a car wash to help raise money for the McDonough Pregnancy Resource Center. The PRC does a great service in our area of assisting young and single mothers, counseling against abortion, and presenting the Gospel to the needy. Bring your lunch while we wash cars from 9-2. On the 22nd, we will have a Badminton tournament much like our volleyball tournament last year. It's going to be great! Don't forget the annual slip & slide. On the 29th, we will break out the hoses and the soap and hit the slopes again. Bring a pool float this year to get more distance!
As the summer break closes in August, we will send several groups to the Henry County schools to have prayer walks on each campus. We want Jesus to be the focus of everything we do this summer, so whether we are eating ice cream out of a PVC pipe or watching the Braves run the bases, Jesus is first! Bring your friends for the devotions we have at every event. It's going to be a great summer hanging out with you! Check the S2 website at www.s2ministries.com for more details on each event!
